Le Laperouse Visit Hidden Gem of Sumbawa Island - Badas Port, Sumbawa, Ready to welcome Cruise!

The district of Sumbawa was visited by a cruise ship, this time at Badas Port. This is the initial momentum of opening cruise visits at Badas Port for 2023. The Le Laperouse cruise ship has a length (LOA) of 131.46 meters, a width of 18 meters, and a GT of 9976 with a draught of 4.7 meters. The ship had 143 foreign tourists (Wisman) and 132 crew. The MV Le Laperouse is under the French flag and is captained by Loduvic Theophile Jose Provost.

The tourist attractions that will be visited include the village of Pamulung to see the Barodak procession, the traditional wedding procession, and the traditional Sumbawa "KARACI" fighting, so visitors can get to know the traditions and customs of the Sumbawa district.

Badas Port General Manager, Kunto Wibisono, stated that they are very excited about the arrival of the Le Laperouse cruise ship and have prepared the best welcome for the passengers arriving at Badas Port. "The arrival of the Le Laperouse cruise ship to our port is a positive signal in this cruise business, and of course, we will serve with the best service," said Kunto.

"We and the community in Sumbawa district, especially MSMEs in terms of improving tourism, who always collaborate with creative economic actors, will promote the local products of Sumbawa community such as handicrafts and other products. We are preparing ourselves for the arrival of foreign tourists who are surely eager to travel again to Sumbawa district," added Kunto.

Related agencies, including the City of Sumbawa District Tourism, Port Authority, Pelindo, and other regulators, stated that they are ready to support the security and smooth operation of the cruise service.

This is the first time a cruise ship has visited the Sumbawa district after the Covid-19 pandemic. Hopefully, this will become a continuous momentum of cruise ship visits at Badas Port and can embark the tourism economy in the Sumbawa district.
